Pian di Spagna and the Lago di Mezzola represent a unique and complex eco system: a flat territory populated by over 200 species of birdlife, cultivated agricultural areas and marshes with vast reed-beds.
The lake also throws up bathing opportunities, surrounded by a wondrous nature characterised by this unique habitat, in which different species of the lake world co-exist happily, including ducks, swans, herons, coots and teals to mention just a handful.
You will find small, modern marinas, kiosks for tasty breaks and for the more sporty there is the option of rowing thanks to a well-organised centre on the lake.
