In front of a child it seems gigantic. The imposing statue of Our Lady of Europe sits at Motta at an altitude of around 2000 metres.
You can get to Motta from Madesimo on foot, either by following the road or perhaps more interestingly, the path through woodland.
A panoramic pathway will then take you to the foot of the Statue of the Madonna.
Nearby is the beautiful lago Azzurro, so called for the water’s intense colour.
